Brooke had Cheerleading camp at the Great Wolf, so we went up to watch their little show. I always knew Brooke was an amazing cheerleader and then she did the most incredible toe touch I have ever seen! I was blown away, I still am. It was unreal, and beautiful, and amazing, and awesome. I can't wait to go to her games this fall! Love you Brooke!

Lucy at the Lake

Before we had our own dogs, we loved to take Lucy (my parents dog) to the the lake. Even when it was freezing cold she would love to run around in the water. Bobby has these awesome wader things for duck hunting that you don't get wet in (and are so warm!). Bobby would run around in the water with Lucy, he is a dog lover!

I'm embarassed, it's been a year. I will probably never catch up on that year, but here is a vocal vow to be better. I expect everyone else to blog at least once a day (for my stalking pleasures) but yet I have let a year go by. So here is a very brief recap and the only pics I could steal from other peoples blogs or the infamous facebook! (I swear Bobby is alive too, I just couldn't find any pictures of him to steal!)

Bobby and I finally made it downtown to explore the historic sites. It was a hot, crowded day so we didn't make it to everything we wanted to. We were able to see the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and the National Constitution Center. It is so interesting to be in the actual places where our nations history came about. More exploration dates to come!

I know we are not on the famous side with the crack, there were way too many non-english speaking tourists hogging the cool side.

We would LOVE to have visitors to take to these cool sites! We are kind of fun people!

A couple weekends ago I took my debut road trip to DC for the weekend. The drive was great, minus the extra 2 hours it took because of stupid traffic. Once again, it was so much fun to spend time with Heather. It was only my second trip to DC in the 3 years she has lived there and I loved everything about it. Her town is charming, her house is adorable and I love her room. As always, the weekend was full of diet coke/dr. pepper and midnight milky ways! We slept in, lounged, walked King street, ate delicious food and saw Up in 3D. I'm sad to report the only picture I have of the weekend is us wearing our dorky 3D glasses. (We were documenting my extra-dorkiness. I wore the 3D glasses over my real glasses. Nerdy I know.) Thanks for letting me come play, I am loving living so close.

I love home.

I love our family because we play so hard and never stop. The fun started the second I walked off the plane and literally did not stop until I boarded my plane 5 days later. I was exhausted moving from one adventure to the next but that is what I love about our family, the fun never ends! It all started with a trip to the zoo with the cutest kids on the planet. I love the zoo. I was more amazed about the animals than any kid in the whole place.

I woke up the next morning to the sound of a back hoe moving up and down our drive way. Once again another Hickson Adventure: refilling the sand volleyball court. All the kids came for back hoe rides and motorcycle rides. It was quite a deal, dad on the 4 wheeler pulling a homemade rake contraption, the back hoe killing the grass, snakes through moms toes, and seeing Cash's big eyes light up every time he said "BACK HOE". All this fun ended with frog hunting in the catch pool.

The rest of the trip was filled with jet skis, boats, play dates with the kids, lunch with girlfriends and a lot of fun. (I am having blogger issues with the rest of the pics). Thanks for the fun, can't wait to be back in Texas!

Valley Forge.

A couple weeks ago Heather came to visit for the weekend. I had so much fun hanging out with her, I'm grateful we can live so close for the summer. The weekend was full of diet coke/dr pepper, midnight milky ways, laughing, chatting and exploring. We went to Valley Forge National Park which is absolutely beautiful. I was literally obsessed the whole next week and always thought of excuses to go...picnics, games, reading...

The Keystone State

We have officially said farewell to Utah and fully embraced Pennsylvania as our home for now. After a graduation celebration with family we embarked on the longest drive across America. Just for the record...most of the midwest honestly should not exist!

On a 32 hour drive across Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and finally Pennsylvania...here are a few of the things you might see:

Long, straight roads that never end with nothing around.

A million windmills.

Weird billboards.

Even weirdER billboards.

Car accidents that create stupid traffic.

Cool bridges.

Cooler tunnels.

Beautiful sunsets.

Tommy's 24-hr diner with giant rooster.

It all led us to -

Bobby is working his hiney off; he is the hottest sales rep out there! He is doing great and is such a hard worker. As for me, I am loving my free time! I have been spending hours cooking, baking, reading, exploring and definitely relaxing. For the first time our laundry is caught up, dishes done and we just might have the cleanest bathroom on the block!

BYU Alum

I can't believe it finally happened...I am a college graduate! Many, many times I thought this day was never going to come and now that it has, I can hardly believe it. As excited as I am to be done with late nights of studying and writing papers, a part of me is a little sad that this time is over. I loved college and all that it taught me, physically, mentally and spiritually. I learned a little bit about a lot of different things (one plus to declaring just about every major offered) and learned a lot about myself. There are many things I am going to miss about my college days but I have already promised myself I will continue learning. One chapter closed and another opened...

Graduation was a bit crazy, although a total blast! I am so grateful my whole family was able to come out for a last minute play and celebration (we missed you terribly Chris!). I know it was a crazy time for everyone to leave home and work but it meant the world to me to have my whole family there to celebrate. I can't believe I am the last college graduate of my family, we are growing up!!

Bobby's BIG Day

Bobby's very first Grappling Tournament. Thanks to Throwdown-- my husband wants to be a fighter. It was a very interesting experience for me, but in the end it was a really fun day. Bobby had a blast and did really well for his first time. Here is how the big event went:
(P.S. Grappling is a style of fighting/wrestling that involves no punching or kicking. Basically just choking, dislocating limbs and flat out exhausting the opponent)

Unfortunately Bobby lost this one, but he is allowed one more loss before he is out.

I accidentally deleted this video, but hopefully you can tell from the pic that this dude was freakin ripped! This was Bobby's longest match and he almost had it but he was so exhausted; he had zero rest time from his second match to his third. Unfortunately he lost this one too so he was out of the tournament. He ended up getting 5th out of 9 guys! People kept coming up to him telling him how good he did so he definitely made a good first impression!

Thank goodness we escaped without any major injuries - just a small busted lip and a couple scratches (and lots of sore muscles)!

Happy Birthday Jenica!!

On Jenica's birthday she invited us to a bonfire up the canyon. It was a great last minute decision to ditch the homework and party! The boys found an abandoned Christmas tree and used it to start the fire, bad idea. The flames were huge and were hitting the tree above us. We were all ready to run to the car in an instant if the tree caught on fire!

The fire was sooo HOT, we couldn't get close enough to roast our marshmallows!

The boys thought it would be cool to run through the fire, once again not a bright idea.

Bike Ride

Bobby has been trying to sell as much as he can lately which leaves me at home alone. A couple weekends ago I called Jenica, figuring Tyler would be out selling too. We ended up going on a bike ride up to Bridal Veil Falls. It was really fun and such a beautiful ride. Thanks Jen for the great idea!

Jello Monster

Bobby is quite the Jello lover. I have never been a huge fan, but lately it is our dessert on a daily basis. It is so cheap, so easy and very delicious. He is easy to please!

Winter Activities

Many months ago Candy and Russ invited us to go Snow Shoeing. It was something Bobby and I have always wanted to do so we were really excited to finally go. It was a beautiful full moon and once we finally reached the top it was breathtaking. All said and done, 4 hours later, it was a really fun experience. Next time we go snowshoeing we might pick a smaller hike, but this one was definitely worth it! Thanks Candy and Russ for the invite!

We also got to enjoy a beautiful day on the mountain snowboarding. I was dying to get up there and it was a perfect day! My company gave me their corporate passes which meant no waiting in line! We had a blast together, Bobby is really getting good!

Finally...a haircut!

I have been in desperate need of a haircut for months now. My hair was sooo long and I just couldn't handle it anymore. So, here it is mom and heather! I know it does not look that short, but do not be fooled. She cut over 6 inches off.

This was right after my hair chop, we went bowling with Tyler and Jenica. It was a blast, I forgot how much I LOVE bowling! (that is until I woke up the next morning and my left butt cheek was killing me, no joke I think I pulled the muscle bowling!) Tyler and Jenica put up an intense fight on both games but thanks to Bobby we came out the winning couple!

Bobby would not make a real face....

I just had a Birthday and it was great! We went to Tepanyaki with our bestest friends, Tyler and Jenica! And Jenica even made me my own mini cake and cupcakes! She is so great!

Pioneer Day?

I agree with Heather, Pioneer day is such a fake holiday, but in any case I LOVE IT!!!! It was so nice to have a break from work, Bobby even got payed all day for us to play!

It all started the night before - Pioneer Eve.
Total last minute we called up our friends, Stewart and Melissa, and headed to the hot springs! It was really fun to go with other people and don't worry....

...we remembered our flashlights this time! Needless to say we were able to enjoy the hike back!

The drive back down the canyon was quite an adventure. Any of you that know Bobby at all know that he is a sucker for anything that moves, lives, and breathes. So as we are driving along we found several critters in the middle of the road that we just HAD to turn around and investigate. Our findings include several dead snakes one of which was a rattle snake, and several alive snakes, one of which was also a rattle snake, and a very very dead road kill squirrel. As soon as I yell out the car "do NOT pick it up" Bobby reaches down and grabs the alive rattle snake's head, of course! Here is the proof...

Now for Pioneer DAY...
We slept in later than we have in a long time, which felt great! Then we were off to Big O Tires to buy our tubes to float the Provo River! Stewart and Melissa came with and it was a blast! It was a first for all of us and man is that water FREEZING! My butt was so numb and tingly by the end, but it was well worth it.

After a quick shower we picked up Melissa and Stewart and went to the amazing Cafe Rio for dinner! I can never get enough of that place! We decided to end the perfect day with the dollar theater! It just doesn't get much better than this, it was a great Pioneer Day!

Shooting

Bobby brought back his serious gun from home so we went to test it out the other day. I watched him shoot it first and it scared the heck out of me! It is so loud - I passed on that one.
But first...this is me being bored while Bobby was setting up our target!

I took some videos of each of us shooting off multiple rounds but I can't get them to post - so maybe i'll figure it out and get back to it!

We had to do some 4-wheeling while we were up there so we went to the tippy tippy top. Here is the view!

When you wait too long to update this thing you wonder where to even start! So, here it goes.....

We were so lucky to go back home to Texas for the Fourth! We had a blast and definitely played as hard as we could. We both got sufficiently burned so it was a successful trip! Thanks to both families for the fun memories! We miss you guys! I'm still missing most of the pics so here are just a few I have....

Summer!

It has been pretty hot here lately, and everyday Bobby and I are frustrated that we do not have a pool or something refreshing to swim in. We really miss swimming. So today we decided call Andie and her friend Tina and take a nice drive out to Utah Lake and go swimming. That lake is disgusting - but it was water to play in!

Hot Springs

Just the other weekend we went up Spanish Fork to play in the hot springs. It was so much fun, but there was alot we should have known before we began our adventure. We researched this location and were told it was a small hike (.5 mile) up to the springs so we did not leave until later in the evening. After we finally found the place, we began chatting with some other couples in the parking lot only to find out it is over a 2 mile hike to the springs, thank goodness we didn't wear our flip flops! We weren't worried about the hike, at least on the way up! We reached the top and enjoyed the toasty warm hot springs. They were so fun, and even came with a very very naked guy. He was not a bit shy. Well by the time we hiked up and then soaked in the springs it was pitch black out and we had to hike 2 miles back to the car. We were very wrong thinking we could rely on the moon because the trail was completely covered with overgrown tress. Needless to say it was the most terrifying experience hiking 2 miles right next to a large cliff in the complete dark. We could not even see our hands in front of us. Thank goodness for prayer, we did alot of it within that 2 miles!! Lets just say we will bring several flashlights next time!

The longest trail of my life

Bobby has discovered the Squaw Peak trail that goes from Provo Canyon all the way to Springville, it comes out at Hobble Creek. It is a beautiful, very bumpy road that we have yet to complete. Each time we go we get a little bit further but eventually run into mass amounts of snow that we cannot get passed. (The Bronco's tires are beyond bald!) We take snacks and little treats with us and make it really fun. Here are some pictures of the beautiful places we have found off the trail.

Cross your fingers that we make it all the way through next time, turning around is so depressing!

Bobbys new toy!

Some of you know we have purchased the family Bronco! Bobby could not be more giddy to be the owner of this fine and luxurious automobile. We have already had alot of fun in it. One saturday we took Andie and some of her friends out across the lake to go shooting. It was so fun and we even got in some serious off-roading time!

Yes, I screamed...it's quite loud ya know! If you look close, you can see the shell dropping.

Bridal Veil Falls

Bobby picked me up from work with a quick change of clothes in the car and we were off to hike Bridal Veil Falls. It was hardly a hike - its so short. We just blazed our own trail up and had a blast.

This was probably in early April on one of the first days of warm weather. It was so nice outside I did not want to go sit in a boring classroom so we quickly found a solution - batting cages! It was a fun kick off to Summer!
